Hancock Area Map

Trails shown: Jack Stevens Trail is paved within Hancock's city limits and is used for biking, walking, and snowmobiling. There is a paved trail path along part of US-41 from downtown to the Quincy Mine area. The trailhead for Maasto Hihto Ski Trails is located just north of the Driving Park Baseball Fields, near Houghton County Fairgrounds.

Bike routes shown: Cyclists can ride along M-203 to Hancock Beach and to McLain State Park. There are bike lanes along Elevation Street and Campus Drive.

Walking routes shown: In downtown Hancock, there are several sidewalks that pass historic locations, restaurants and much more. The sidewalks along the Portage Lift Bridge can be used to reach Houghton; the sidewalk on the east side of the bridge provides the easiest access to downtown Houghton.

Parks shown: Condon Baseball Field, Condon Park, Driving Park Baseball Fields, East Hancock Stairway Park, Houghton County Marina, Laurn Grove Park, Montezuma Park, Pine Park, Porvoo Park, Scenic View Turnout, Terrace Park, and Third Street Park.

Hancock Beach has a sandy swimming beach on Portage Canal, volleyball courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas.

North of Hancock Beach on M-203 there is a boat launch on Portage Canal.

The bike route uses a wide shoulder along M-203 to go to McLain State Park.

The map also shows Driving Park Baseball Fields, Houghton County Arena, Houghton County Fairgrounds, and the trailhead for Maasto Hihto Ski Trails.

Approximately 10 miles from Hancock, McLain State Park has trails for hiking and cross-country skiing and a very long sandy beach on Lake Superior. Keweenaw Upper Entrance Light (lighthouse) is located near the state park. Shows part of the bike route along M-203, which goes to west to Calumet and south to Hancock.
