The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is a combination of paved trails and wide sidewalks from D Avenue to Mayor's Riverfront Park. Through downtown, the trail uses street bike routes and sidewalk before becoming a paved trail again at Westnedge Avenue. The paved trail goes from Westnedge Avenue to the Douglas Avenue. The trail then uses bike lanes along Ravine Road before becoming a paved trail again and then leading to the Kal-Haven Trail State Park trailhead on 10th Street, which is west of US-131. The trail distance is 13.2 miles from D Avenue to the Kal-Haven Trail State Park trailhead on 10th Street.

The map shows the downtown route for the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail. To get from the paved trail near Rose Park and Harrison Street to the paved trail at Westnedge Avenue, cyclists need to ride along the edge of Harrison Court, Water Street, and Eleanor Street, and then ride north on the sidewalk along Westedge Avenue to the trail. Joggers and walkers will need to use sidewalks along the same routes.
The map also shows a few notable locations in downtown Kalamazoo.
