More About Chelsea
Downtown Chelsea is a vibrant destination. Several tasty restaurants are located along Main Street/M-52, and if you're in a shopping mood, it'll be hard to walk past the antique shops, art galleries and family-owned stores in the downtown shopping district without stepping inside to look around.
The Purple Rose Theatre Company, which was founded by actor Jeff Daniels, presents top-notch performances in Chelsea throughout the year. The Purple Rose also aids area actors, directors and writers by offering skill-building workshops periodically for students of every skill level.
Chelsea is not far from the
Pinckney Recreation Area and the
Waterloo Recreation Area, which have trails for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing. There are also several lakes for fishing and kayaking.
Chelsea is a short drive from Ann Arbor,
Detroit,
Jackson, and
Lansing. Chelsea has larger hotels, like Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Inn, and cozy bed and breakfasts, like Chelsea House Victorian Inn.
