The Paint Creek Trail extends nearly 9 miles between Rochester and Lake Orion. It has a crushed limestone surface and is used for walking, jogging, biking, and horseback riding. Horses are only allowed on the trail north of Dutton Road.

The rail trail ends in Rochester near Main Street, providing easy acess to downtown businesses and restaurants. In Lake Orion, it forks at the end, with the fork on the left going behind Kentucky Fried Chicken and the fork on the right going north to the sidewalk along Atwater Street.
